Elayne Mazzarella, director of pre-law and alumni counseling at the Office of Career Strategy, told the news that the OCS organizes workshops with YLS for students interested in law school, such as recruitment events. OCS recently held its first in-person recruitment event with YLS in three years, Mazzarella added. The office also provides lists of what Yale students do during the summer and where they end up six months after graduation, giving students examples of how their predecessors navigated the professional world. The session strengthens students` critical thinking and analytical skills, enabling them to examine current social systems and issues through the lens of economic, legal and political theory. During PLE, students rely heavily on interdisciplinary approaches to strengthen their expertise and increase their exposure to a variety of topics in the session topic to prepare them to be more informed and engaged global citizens. Each summer, the Jerome N. Frank Legal Services Organization at Yale Law School (LSO) offers a scholarship program of approximately 15 to 20 part-time and full-time students from Yale and other law schools. The 2022 program runs from May 24 to August 12, 2022. Most students work full-time (40 hours per week) for up to twelve weeks. Public health conditions permitting, the Law Society will offer personal scholarships in the summer of 2022.
Summer Fellows will be informed if the program should instead be delivered remotely. In our Law and Advocacy Summer School, you will: The evening course provides an opportunity to practice reading strategies and examine the ethical dilemmas facing the legal profession. The traditional role and image of lawyers as depicted in Anthony Kronman`s The Lost Lawyer are discussed at length, as well as depictions of lawyers in film excerpts. Students often fill out a research paper in conjunction with their writing course on a relevant topic of their choice, including an ethical problem in their country and ways to solve it. Yale University`s Law and Trial Advocacy Academy provides you with a general introduction to the theory and practice of law. It will equip you with a solid set of logical and argumentative skills through legal case studies and mock trial simulation. Each class in Yale Law`s three-year Young Women program includes approximately 200 students. Yale`s flagship legal journal is the Yale Law Journal, one of the most cited legal publications in the United States.

The lectures and the Socratic method of teacher-student dialogue are intended to provide an authentic learning situation that mirrors a lecture in an American law school. Teaching includes civil procedure, contract, professional liability, constitutional law, criminal law, tort and corporate law. Contemporary American legal principles and their historical origins are presented, including the right to freedom of expression, freedom of religion, privacy, and civil rights. Students also prepare their own arguments based on their reading of a real case and participate in teams of four in a mock legal debate in front of a panel of student judges and the professor. This course focuses on effective speaking in a variety of legal contexts, including interviews, discussions, debates, presentations, and group projects. The student will come into contact with practitioners and their approach to legal communication inside and outside the courtroom, practice formal and informal oral presentation skills, and build the confidence to speak in a semi-professional setting. “The Launchpad Scholars program will significantly support current students and graduates who are considering law school, but may not have the tools they need to navigate the law school admissions process,” said Miriam Ingber at LAW, Associate Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid. “Our goal is to remove barriers to access to law school and the legal profession.” Visit our parents page to find useful information for parents and students about living and studying at our summer school centres. College students and graduates who wish to apply to law school in the fall of 2024 are eligible. Throughout the year, scientists will have access to many resources to prepare for LSAT, including supervised practice exams and individual review sessions. In addition, accredited researchers will participate in discussions with YLS faculty and staff on important aspects of legal education and careers. “I don`t think Yale necessarily creates a clear path for students interested in a career in law, but I actually think it`s a very good thing,” Kelli Hines wrote. “I think if there was a structured pre-law program, it would be quite limited in terms of academic research. In more than 15 years of offering world-class summer programs, we have established robust processes and structures to ensure that all of our more than 25,000 students have been well cared for during their time at ORA. We pride ourselves on the exceptional level of pastoral care we provide to our students. Despite this obvious pipeline, Collichio said many of her undergraduate colleagues were off-putting when she mentioned an interest in law school.
